Clapboard, also known as traditional lap, uses flat, narrow boards that feature a curvature at the bottom to create a unique shadowing effect. Beaded lap, on the other hand, has a thicker “bead” at the bottom of each piece of siding that offers a smooth, charming finish. This style is inspired by coastal communities on the East Coast.
